The Lacombe & District Historical Society has been preserving Lacombe history since 1976. They operate 2 museums & the community archive.
The Lacombe & District Historical Society acknowledges that we are living, working, and volunteering in the traditional territories of the ᓀᐦᐃᔭᐤ Nêhiyaw (Cree) people of Treaty 6. We are respectful of the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit people whose footsteps have marked this land for centuries.
The Lacombe and District Historical society believes that education on the history of the region of Lacombe is a vital part in a healthy life!By creating events, exhibits, and programming for the public we create opportunities for the public to enrich their mental health and increase their ability to have engagement with other members of the public.
The LDHS has increased attendance from roughly 4,000 in 2018 to just over 10,000 in 2023.
The LDHS has also been awarded the title of "leader" under the Alberta Museum Association Recognized Museums Program.
